Well, what a weekend it was for the Attachment Warehouse team in Townsville for the first round of the Toyota 86 championship.
With 2 practice sessions, a qualifying session and 3 races it was sure a busy weekend.
Both practice sessions went to plan and it was just a matter of getting through our program and making sure the car was where we wanted it, Casha said.
Casha managed to put the car on the front row for race 1 after posting the 2nd fastest time in qualifying.
Race 1 started with a drag down the main straight with Jayden Ojeda with the pair swapping paint into turn 1 with Casha coming out in front. Casha led for the first 5 laps before Ojeda took the lead. With a 1 lap sprint to the flag after a late safety car, Ojeda managed to take the win by less than a half of a second, with Casha crossing the line in second.
Another front-row start in race 2 for Casha, only this time he had it all to himself after Ojeda had car issues on the out lap. Casha lead through turn one but from that moment on it turned into a dogfight between Richard’s and Casha, with Casha gaining the upper hand and taking his first win in the Toyota 86 series. A great moment to savour for Ryan and his parents who were there to celebrate it with him.
Another front-row start for Race 3 and the final race of the weekend. As the lights went green it was another drag race to turn 1 with Tasmanian driver Campbell Logan. From there to lap 3 was nothing else but good hard side-by-side racing until the field levelled out. We ran with Logan for most of the race but just couldn’t get the pass done, Casha said. Congratulations to Campbell on his first win.
All in all, we are so happy with the way the weekend went and to come away with the round win is a great result for the team and sponsors.
Off we go to SMP for round 2 from the 28th to the 30th of July.
